If you live in an apartment, or you're just heading out for a tailgate, you might not always have access to a full-sized grill. If you don't have to miss out on cookouts though, you just have to improvise with a few cheap materials.
All you need is a cheap lasagna pan (or two, if you want to use one as a lid), a cooling rack, and some charcoal. All in, you're looking at less than $5 here. Just add the charcoal to a pan, light it, and rest the cooling rack on top to hold your meats and vegetables. It should go without saying that the pan will get extremely hot, so it's best to rest it on stone or concrete so that nothing gets damaged. It may not be the easiest grill to work with, but it should get the job done for most simple cookouts.
